Laundry Hacks Everyone Should Know

I’m sharing #purclean in my life as part of a Tide® sponsored series for Socialstars™

Laundry day is everyday in my house.  With toddlers, dogs, and a husband, there’s never a shortage of something the needs to be washed.  As a “Green” Mom, I look for laundry detergents that are eco-friendly and safe for my family.  Finding a detergent that fits into that category and actually cleans well can to hard to come across.  That is until I found Tide purclean™.

Tide Pure Clean

Tide purclean™ is a greener alternative that’s better for the environment due to its 3 sustainability claims:

  • It’s formula is made with 100% renewable wind power electricity
  • The product is made at a zero manufacturing waste to landfill site
  • 100% recyclable bottle

This eco-friendly, wanna be crunchy, green mama loves that!!

Tide purclean™ is the 1st bio-based detergent, with the cleaning power of Tide that you know and love!  Not only does it smell amazing and natural (lavender scent is my absolute favorite), it throughly cleans my clothes!  Over the years I’ve tried every brand…you name it I’ve tried it.  My whites never get white enough, my stains never fully come out of the clothes and the darks look dingy and faded after a few washes.  Yes, it might give me and excuse to go shopping even more, but in the end it’s hard on the wallet. 🙁

Tide Pure Clean

Before I found Tide purclean™, I figured out my own laundry hacks to help with laundry day!  Here’s some of my favorite tips to help make laundry day less stressful in your house:

1) Homemade Dryer Sheets – You can use small balls of aluminum foil as dryer sheets.  Simply roll a sheet of aluminum foil into a ball shape and toss it into the dryer to eliminate static.  You can reuse it too!

2) Stain cheat sheet:  I’ve perfected the art of removing stains thanks to these tricks:

  • Grass – Use Vinegar
  • Red Wine -Use White Wine
  • Grease -Use Soda
  • Blood – Use Hydrogen Peroxide
  • Oil – Use White Chalk
  • Coffee – Use Baking Soda
  • Deodorant – Use Denim
  • Sweat – Use Lemon Juice
  • Lipstick – Use baby wipes
  • Ink – Use Milk
  • Make-up – Use shaving cream

3) Clean your washer the easy and eco-frieldy way.  Here’s how:  For top loading machines, turn to the clean setting and add 2 cups of vinegar to the dispenser.  Let the cycle run.

4) For front loaders, select the hot water setting or the largest load setting.  Then add 2 cups of vinegar to the dispenser.  Let the cycle run and be sure to wipe down the machine after it’s finished.

5) Hate to iron? Who really has time right? Throw a couple of ice cubes into your dryer with the wrinkled clothes for about 15 minutes on high.  As the head from the dryer melts the cubes, the steam is released to rid your clothes of wrinkles.

6) Need to dry your clothes fast!? Throw in a dry towel with your wet clothes.  It will cut your dry time in half!

I’d love to hear your laundry hacks!  What are some of your favorite laundry day tips?
